In the years of the First Great Space Expansion, the different races discovered within the Milky Way Galaxy worked together, and eventually created the Protectorate, a form of government that acted as a universal law system. while this system worked for many centuries, this did not last in the years before the fall of the Sol System.
In the year 3072, The Protectorate fell apart due to the destruction of earth and the Sol System, fracturing the peoples trust of the peace that once helped run the galaxy. Once the Fracture in the Protectorate happened, Those few remaining in power from the protectorate quickly fell out with each other due to bickering over different ideals on how to reform. Soon after, they split into their own governments trying to honor the legacy of the Protectorate in they way they thought best. It is here that the current Second Expansion, know as the Nomadic Era.
Most of the universe is yet still unexplored and most Governments desire for more territory. So they have hired various groups of people, Mercs, Their own Military, even random Civilians, to explore and claim planets for them. So far only 20 Percent of the galaxy has been explored and claimed, and many more of it remains neutral territory owned by various smaller factions that have not aligned themselves with the three main governments. While some are Neutral or Friendly, there are many Factions who are hostile.
We are various types of people hired by the three main governments for the same purpose; to explore and claim different planets.
